We had a few folks who participated in a CMU study about software
usability involving the GIMP.  The University of Waterloo has
developed a special version called "Instrumented GIMP"
<http://ingimp.org/> which collects and uploads usage data as you
work on images.

Statistics are published as the data are collected (to date, the
most popular command is "undo").  The major hitch is that the
Linux version is only distributed as source.
