There was a GPL'd program out there for a while which
was supposedly a quite powerful digital video editor
for Linux called Broadcast 2000. It's author stopped
distributing it claiming he was afraid of getting sued
under the DMCA (for distributing what might be
considered a "circumvention device") but others have
suggested he just wanted to convert the tool into a
proprietary product.

Anyway, it's GPL'd and you can probably still find it
somewhere on the 'net.
