okkie,
i started my services and interfaces step by step. i don;t think it is
privoxy! here are the steps:
after booting...
1. ifconfig: loopback has 127.0.0.1
2. looked at status of privoxy: running
3. stopped privoxy
4. ifconfig: loopback has 127.0.0.1
5. dhclient: i get ip address
6. ping www.cmu.edu: i have a connectin
7. ifconfig: loopback has lost 127.0.0.1

i tried to check out /sbin/dhclient, but it's a binary file that i can't
read.

any ideas why this might happen to loopback??

txs,
andi
