I think that OpenOffice.org is the best overall substitute for Excel. it
currently has a 32K line limit for Calc documents though. Its Excel
import is very decent.
You might also want to try gnumeric
(http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnumeric) - which I unfortunately
haven't used.
