They say there is no such thing as bad publicity (I am not sure I
believe that but. . . )
But getting our name out there as a resource could help the Linux
movement, in showing the there is support for Linux, people don't know
that there is support for Linux. (this is some antidotal evidence here)
Yesterday I listened to 2 ham talk about how much they Hate windows, but
they have to use it, because there is no support for other alternative
OSes (they talked about Macs, but you get the point, Linux was not even
on their mind at the time) When I piped in that there is Linux, they
said that it a nice idea, but they don't want to be crazy and use a
system with no support, people need to know that Linux is there, usable,
and SUPPORTED, and we as a LUG _ARE_ the support.

Regarding the registration note I just sent, I guess the commentary is
not necessary, but I get the impression that PTC's only interest in me
at the Summer Slam Event is what they can sell me.
I don't think this atmosphere is highly compatible with WPLUG culture.
Perhaps we should decide who our target audience is. There are people
using Linux servers in the enterprise, but I wonder if those are mostly
IBM oriented people with a mindset similar to those at the Summer Slam V
event.
