Lamar Smith has introduced an Internet snooping bill by the name of HR
1981. To make it more likely to pass they are saying it's to "protect
the children". The idea with this bill is to force ISPs to keep long
logs on all internet traffic and the government gets the logs from
them. Normally the government would had needed evidence before the
logging would start. HR 1981 is already out of committee. The bill is
an easy read at the length of mere 16 pages it will most likely be
implemented by bureaucrats.
