[wplug] Redesigning my home network

Assuming that your board supports that CPU, like Pat said, it will be a nice upgrade. If I remember correctly, the AMD Phenom dual-, triple-, and quad-core processors used the exact same physical design, so if you had a motherboard meant for overclockers, you could unlock the extra cores in the dual- and triple-core variants. Sometimes AMD locked the cores on purpose since they didn't work properly, but a lot of the time they just did it to create more low-end parts.

Having a lot of disk space on a server can really come in handy. You could rip all your DVDs and CDs and have easy access to them from the netbook or any other Internet-connected device. You could download oodles of torrents. Heck, if you'd like to know what's going on at your place while you're not around, you could install a security camera(s) and record the footage with Zoneminder.

It's really up to you. If you're happy with the disk space you have, stick with it.
