Hello,

Anybody know of a way to set a field (such as serial number) in
non-volatile memory on a linux machine?

I am looking for a way to set the serial number field in our
workstations that perists across OS reinstallations.  They have Intel
BTX3810j motherboards, but the OEM didn't set the SN bios field.

I'm using OCSng / GLPI for inventory on about 100 computers, and it
generally works pretty well.  Only problem is with these 10 systems
from the same manufacturer - erase the OS, and they show up as new
computers.  Any thoughts?
