[wplug] Is IrDA dead?

Hello Folks,

I was cleaning out my old software projects directory over the holiday
and stumbled across some code snippets and alpha releases related to
IrDA communications.

It seems to me that IrDA is dead, or at very least on life support,
due to acceptance of WiFi, Bluetooth and the new Wireless USB.  Are
there any modern uses for IrDA offering advantage over RF-based
wireless?
