[wplug] Slightly OT: Voip services, mainly skype on Linux

Since we are having a "How Do I Do That?" meeting seemed like a good
time to ask. I was curious if anybody had experience using skype on
Linux? Sort of looking at the different voip services available. Any
thoughts on ekiga as well?

I was more curious about the skype because I was wondering about the
complete package(home and away). For some reason I was on the site
today. They say the Belkin phone does not even require a computer, and
claims "A mobile Wi-Fi phone for calling over any open Wi-Fi network!"
and "Advanced Security with WEP, WPA, and WPA2 support". Seeing as how
wi-fi is becoming somewhat ubiquitous with McDonalds and Chik-fil-a
having it, just wondering if anybody had a personal opinion about it.

They also had another phone but it was $249 instead of the $179. Plus
the $29.95/year if I actually want to send and recieve to POTS, which I
do for relatives.

tia,
Matthew
