I have a Comcast business line at my house with 6m/768k (I always get
over 10m down though) and 5 static ip addresses (no ports blocked) for
$105. This is probably more than most people want to pay but I use it
for consulting and genuinely need it (as I keep telling the wife)

I had Verizon but they apparently run static ip connections out of a
different CO than their dynamic ip connections because I was close
enough to get 3m/768k with dynamic but if I wanted static they said the
best they could do (because of distance to CO) was 768k/384k. That was
not going to be acceptable with my work plus the Vonage phone I had so I
switched to Comcast.

Actually, Verizon first quoted me the 3m/768k speed for a static ip and
assured me it was no problem but when the work order arrived it had the
lower speed. I canceled that order and they took that to mean I wanted
all of my service canceled so they did without warning. Then told me it
would take a few weeks for the line to clear and for me to reactivate
service. Comcast was installed and running two hours later.

I've got no complaints about the Comcast service I have now except the
price is a bit steep and Vonage runs very poorly over Comcast (this is
the case everywhere though).

It also required a windows machine for the initial setup but once that
was complete, I have had no problems running Linux, Solaris, and AIX
over it.

FIOS is where I intend to be in the long run (if it would ever roll out
here), and their 15m/2m business plan (5 static ip) is $99
