[wplug] Code 6 Package Manager

Well, couple of things ...

1) Fedora 7 has been out for some time now. I have DVDs for both i386 and x86-64 if you want them.

2) I assume you are using the Package Manager GUI? And which one is it? The GNOME default? You need to configure it with the same Proxy Server / username/password access you use in your web browser. I know there are ways to configure it to use local media as the source as well - check the Options.

3) You can always use RPM from the command line for local package installs. E.g., "rpm -Uhv (package)". Now if the package needs additional dependencies, then you'll want to use the PM GUI for auto resolution. Alternatively you can use "yum localinstall (package)" at the command line, although it too will try to use the Internet without passing options to use local media instead.

Subject: [wplug] Code 6 Package Manager

A bit of help please.  I recently installed Fedora Core 6 and for the most part it is working fine.  I need to add a package that I forgot to included in the installation, so I am attempting to use the Package Manager.  The package should be on the distro disks.
When I open PM, I get an error message saying that it cannot access the network.  Clearing the error window closes PM.  The PC has internet access and I set the network proxy and authentication config.  It cannot access company network drives but does have internet access if it is using the username/password from the authentication info.
I tried to do a reinstallation but the process does not give me a chance to add a new package.  Any ideas?  I prefer to add this package from the CD.
