Here is the response from my nVidia expert buddy in Switzerland. Sorry I
don't understand these issues too well myself.

hi greg
sure, the error message says exactly the problem:

(EE) NVIDIA(0): Version mismatch detected between the NVIDIA X driver
and the
(EE) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GLX module. X driver version: 1.0-8774; GLX
module
(EE) NVIDIA(0): version: 1.0-8762. Please try reinstalling the NVIDIA
(EE) NVIDIA(0): driver.

For ubuntu

nvidia-glx
nvidia-kernel-common
linux-restricted-modules

install these three, reboot, and then it will run, i think :)

OR:
if the guy with the message has it's own kernel, or not running ubuntu:

when he runs the setup

./NVIDIA-XXXXXXX -x-module-path=/usr/lib/xorg/modules/

i dont remember out of stand, if it's --x-module-path, but i think that is
what he needs to search in the option list of the setup. the path ist just
right..

have a nice day!
silvan
