A. Cut and paste, mt (mag tape) command gives `weof (count)` to write
tapemark(s) over some I/O errors before you continue, `eom` to forward to
end-of-recorded-media - it's a fit-per-tape process that might work for
some tapes.

B. Creating a revised tape module that didn't take action on certain return
codes would do a better job, but I don't remember where I saw it.

C. I do have a tendency to lecture about basics that might be overlooked in
the chaos of the moment. Sorry - I think.
