Depending on the UPS.  Most small single-PC office or home UPSs operate
on standby, which means that when the power stops or drops below a
certain threshhold, it quickly switches from direct to battery power.
There usually isn't any line conditioning occuring in these units -- in
fact, the drop in voltage during the switch can often cause PCs to reset
and components to fail.

There are also UPSs that always are providing power from batteries, and
use the AC to keep the batteries charged.  These are often the big UPS
units for servers, since they provide a steady voltage with no dropouts
during power loss.
