[wplug] I don't want to see job postings to the wplug list (WAS: Re: Contract Job Opportunity)

Jonathan;

     Some topics that come thru this list are pertinent to my work - others
aren't. The headhunter posting gave particulars toward Adelphia that gave
me more of an idea of where we're needed, and for what - pertinent, i
think, to my well-being and mental health. Certainly, it was part and
parcel of my overall interest in *nix and its' spread.
     Allowing these postings may offend the purist side of my binary soul,
but I'm trying to be a bit bigger than that. The jobs list is a reference
for new wplug members, carrying a history -but this list is where I would
hope to see new announcements, on a once-per-opportunity basis,

 Thanks for your kind attention.

Burt Reany

Do we really want to have random recruiters posting jobs to the mailing
list? There is a wplug-jobs list. Most recruiters aren't really
interested in linux, they just want to get their postings out on as many
lists as possible -- so they can make a buck in the referral. They have
little interest in Linux itself, in fact, most of the recruiters I've
talked to were completely clueless about linux. One was genuinely
surprised that I couldn't run Microsoft Word to write my resume. (This
was before OpenOffice was out.)

Frankly, I'm surprised this message got posted at all. It must mean
that the recruiter either subscribed to post, or the current moderator
let it through.

Am I alone in wanting recruiter job postings off this list? I don't
think it's all bad if a subscriber or WPLUG member wants to post
something, just the recruiters.
