Thanks Bobbie, I guess I could have given a little more info there!  I 
am looking for something that would help with commands, understanding 
linux files and their layouts,
directory operations...that sort of thing.  In a sense I would like to 
have the ability to understand Linux much the same as DOS.  One issue I 
have is the Gnome login problem.
I would be far better off if I had more understanding of the system to 
correct this rather than simply modifying the file while not really 
understanding the file.
