Hi.

Although this was "resolved" Fri Mar 4 15:34:55 EST 2005, I thought I'd
document my findings here, since I found a slightly better fix.

Quoting john harrold Mon Feb 28 15:36:34 EST 2005

The horizontal scan range for the Dell E173FP monitor on the site
quoted by John Harrold were bogus. The real rates (or at least ones
that work) are:

HorizSync 31-80
VertRefresh 56-76

Found those from here:

http://www.dell.com/downloads/emea/products/snp/MON-E153FP-E173-E193-22-03-05-UK.pdf

Put these into your /etc/X11/XFreeConfig under Section "Monitor" and you
should be rocking at 1280x1024 in no time.

You might also find rpm's or source code for the 810 chipset video
adapter from the Intel download center. I haven't but I wasn't really
looking, since mine is a more recent and I found it right away. Or
then you can just use vesa, that always works.
