> Bill, why are you sending blank messages with attachments? I'm confused...

What's being referred to here is that messages from Bill Moran and from John
Harrold come through in some email clients (like, for example, Outlook Express -
YES, I know it's Windows) as blank with usually two attachments: one will be
either an .asc file (such as signature.asc) or a .dat file, and the other one
will be the text file with the body of the message to the group. This can be
caused, I think by the email program used to create the message; for example
using Windows again, an email from Outlook can show up that way when someone
receives it in Outlook Express. As I still use windows for the bulk of my daily
computing (being a raw newbie to Linux and muddling my way through Mandrake via
a live eval CD), the above is how messages from the two of you come through *all
the time* on my system. Doesn't bother me as I know some of the reasons why it
could be happening and I scan all incoming mail, but to others it possibly might
look like a virus email and may be worrisome.

Cheers,
Anna
