Comcast isn't doing anything fancy.  Any Internet-enabled OS will work.

I have a client who is using Comcast via a FreeBSD firewall, so I know
what their service looks like.  Linux won't have any problems with it.
Just set up your NIC to do DHCP and you're off an running.
