Aha! It does work indeed, and is pretty sweet! It's thus possible to 
have multiple completely different configurations active (different 
users - different window managers etc). My problem was that I'm always 
setting the -nolisten tcp options through an alias to startx, and it 
conflicted with the new parameter.
