I think you have it right there. NTP.  If you have I-net access to one 
of your boxes, shouldn't you be updating via NTP anyhow? the time on 
all computers drift, I think this should ALMOST be a 'requirement' when 
you setup a network configuration.

There are tons of servers to sync time with, some of which you have to 
ask permission, and I don't recall ever coming across one that you have 
to pay for. If you need one but can't find one, or just don't feel like 
looking, you can use mine:
clock.dmrnetworks.com
which is synced to stratum 1 and 2 time servers.
