Hi Henry,
I had a Dell C810 that was dual boot and it worked really well.  It had
an Nvidia 3D chip (I don't remember which one) that only worked in X (2D
or 3D) if you downloaded the drivers from Nvidia's site.  Once I did
that the 3D performance was great.  All the hardware I used worked well,
although I'm not sure about the modem or IR port.  

The only downside was that it weighed 8 or 9 pounds.
