If you have apm installed and running
try checking the man page for it.

I think the command is apm --suspend .

Subject: [wplug] Desktop Sleep?

Hello all.

I've got a Sony VAIO desktop that dual boots WinXP and RedHat 8.0.
WinXP can somehow control the fan so that it's not always running.
Additionally, there's a way to send the computer into 'sleep' mode, like
you would for a notebook. Does anyone know of a way to do this in
Linux? Is there some special kernal patch that I can compile that would
add this sort of feature?

Thanks,
jaaron
