FW: [wplug] IBM Laptop

I'm using a T23 right now but running Win2k on it.

I tried SuSE 7.3 (which runs fine on my homemade desktop system at home) but
ran into a few problems.

I couldn't get sound but didn't put much effort into this.

I got X running but with no acceleration for the S3 SuperSavage video.
S3's website was no help and I couldn't find any compatible drivers.

The network interface did fire up and my USB controller was recognized.
I didn't try plugging in any USB device.

I gave up because of the video issues.

I have a desktop/server running RedHat 7.2 here at the office, a laptop
running RedHat 7.0 in my bag and a desktop at home running SuSE 7.3 so I can
get my Linux fix whenever I need it.

I anyone has everything (hardware) running under Linux on a T23, please let
me know.

Thanks,

Bob

I don't know if this applies to all Thinkpads or only older ones...

$ sensors-detect
...
IF THIS IS AN IBM THINKPAD, PRESS CTRL-C NOW!
IBM Thinkpads have a severely broken i2c/SMBus implementation, just
scanning
the bus will break your thinkpad forever!
...

There might be a workaround to get lm-sensors to work on thinkpads, but I
don't know... I've never been able to get lm-sensors to work (I have a
desktop). Does anyone know if lm-sensors is only supposed to work on laptops
or somethin? I would kind of like to be able to monitor the temperature of
my CPU. My motherboard is an ASUS P4B266 with a 1.7 GHz Celery. (It's a P4
motherboard)
