in your .bash_profile putsomething like
export BPHOME="/usr/local/bpd-0.2.97/bin/"
to test it at the commandline type:
prompt$ export BPHOME="/usr/local/bpd-0.2.97/bin/"
that sets the BPHOME environment variable. then try running the command
again.
