[wplug] signing up for @home?

I just noticed that @home is offering one month of free service to
existing customers for each new customer that they refer.

I'm not trying to talk anybody into using their service, but should
anyone decide to sign-up for AT&T's @home cable Internet service
after weighing their occasional poor incoming email delivery times
(keeping an outside pop3 helps) against the incredibly high download
speeds that are possible, please let me know and I'll be happy to
split the referral bonus with you. To qualify, I simply need to
make a referral to @home, which will send out an email to the person
referred. Then when I'm notified of receiving a free month's
service, I'll give you $20 (half the $39.95 value).

I think @home still provides the modem for free (list price is
somewhere around $200-300) and I still think they're giving one
month free service to each new customer. Splitting the referral fee
can make that 1 1/2 months free.

One correction to the @home ads: AT&T speaks of getting download
speeds up to 100 times faster than with a 28.8 modem. Well, lately
I've been getting nearly double that when downloading from some fast
ftp sites via @home cable.

If you or someone you know is shopping for highspeed service,
compare what's available in the area. There is usually more than
one possibility in any market, each with comparative advantages and
disadvantages. If @home is the final choice, this is just a chance
to save a little extra.
