David & Vance,

You might want to look into getting a speaker from
_the_ local cluster storage concern - Panasas, Inc. 
Now that they've introduced products targeted at
audiences below the HPC market (e.g., the ActiveStor
5000), they may be interested in communicating with
the local Linux community.  BTW, Garth Gibson, who is
a professor at CMU, is CTO and one of the original
RAID researchers from Berkeley.  

Panasas' storage will be used on the petascale
"RoadRunner" system at Los Alamos, scheduled for
completion in 2008.
