[wplug-plan] FW: [wplug-board] ORA and Lending Library (Was: New Proposal: Transfer Domain Registrar)

Hmmmm....

I could be wrong...but I don't think that wplug should even try lending
books.

I suggest that books either be included in raffles (he hasn't attended a
meeting in years, and he still thinks raffles continue???? :), or we could
request that we trade services for books: Someone takes a book for keeps,
but is scheduled to talk on some aspect of the book at a future meeting,
within 4 months. This'll potentially guarantee speakers, as well as provide
books to those who'll actually use them.

:)

..alex.

Well, planners, what do y'all think? Does anyone know of any
currently-existing, viable lending library schemes?

A lending library is a cool idea, but how can we be sure that people
will return the books? It could be more of a swap library. Someone
puts one of their books in the library, and takes one out. But then
there is no way to be sure that they will get their book back in a
timely fashion. Would we charge a small ($5) fee, or would it be
completely free? Perhaps we should approach -plan with these questions,
to see what people would be willing to do.
