Through this generosity, students have been given exposure to open source software and encouragement to participate in the Fedora Project. During this meeting we will discuss how this lab came to be and what it is used for today.

Site Visit Basic Details[edit]

Western PA Linux User Group will visit the Red Hat labs at The Gates Center, School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University

What we will experience there[edit]

The Gates Center has a computer labs sponsored by Red Hat Inc. which run Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora desktops. Through this generosity, Carnegie Mellon University students have been given exposure to open source software and encouragement to participate in the Fedora Project.

During this meeting we will discuss how this lab came to be and what it is used for today.

Those who attend will be given a guest account and some basic Linux instruction based on one of the classes who uses this lab: CS 15-123
