== At the InstallFest you can... ==

* Bring in your computer from home and install Linux with the help of the area's leading experts. Help with configuring additional hardware or software on a pre-installed Linux machine is also available.
+
Volunteers
* Get a free copy of Linux that you can take home and experiment with on your own time and at your own pace.
+
----
* Play family-safe free games that you can take home and use on your own computer.
+
We need four types of volunteers.
* See what others are doing with Linux and free software in your area.
+
1. The event planners will prepare the venue, advertise the event, and recruit more volunteers.
* Learn how Linux and free software can help your home, non-profit, or business.
+
2. Linux Experts will be assisting people with installs and teaching Linux demo classes.
* Get advice on how to get started on Linux on your desktop, laptop, or server when you are ready.
+
3. Hosts will care about refreshments and hospitality. Gaining contact information from guests will be done by the hosts so that we can follow up.
 +
4. Network admins will make sure the wired ethernet connection is setup and accessible to several workstations.

All of this is FREE!

== Facilities ==

This is a list of supplies and distributions that we will have available for use at the InstallFest.
+
Look. There will be a new version of Ubuntu then. The only reason why we wouldn't have a rocking install fest is failure to plan.

Supplies:
+
I am volunteering to wrangle this event to make it the best ever only if I can convince 3 others at the 4/10 meeting to help me. Excitement is required, not experience.
* Several keyboards
+
* One 9" CRT monochrome SVGA monitor
+
* One 15" CRT color SVGA monitor
+
* A plethora of Ethernet cables, switches, and power strips
+

Distributions:
+
What are we going to do?
* Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (all available architectures)
+
Make this installfest about installing and trying linux for the first time. LiveCDs will be given out. Demo computers will be on hand to try it out. Classes will be on basic desktop applications. If someone sees it and says "maybe next time" we will make efforts to follow up and invite them in July.
* Fedora 12 (all available architectures)
+
* Android x86
+

== How to help - Sign up here ==
+
Who are we going to invite?
 +
Contact the community around the installfest site. The primary message is "Is your computer a clunker? STOP! Don't throw it away! Free software, classes, and refurbish support. Your computer will be better than new and it will not cost you a dime."

LAN setup - move equipment into the building, turn on switches, deploy power and ethernet cables in a responsible manner starting 9:00am or as soon as we can get into the building.
+
Should Linux experts just stay at home?
 +
No. These are the people who will be teaching the classes, hold handing folks through installation, and being generally friendly.
