Transportation Directions

General directions from Downtown and the north:

  • Take the Liberty Bridge through the Liberty tunnels onto PA 19 South
  • Follow 19 for less than 5 miles until you reach the intersection of Brookline Boulevard (at the McDonald's).
  • Turn left onto Brookline Boulevard and follow the winding road up the hill to the main business district of Brookline.
  • The library is near the intersection with Castlegate Avenue.

Use the Google Maps AJAX applet at the CLPGH site to obtain specific directions for your origin.

Bus Access

There is only one Port Authority bus that runs along Brookline Blvd, the 41D. Outbound buses leave downtown along Smithfield St at 9:20, 10:40, 12:00 and every 80 minutes thereafter.

Inbound buses leave the library at 1:02, 2:22, 3:42 and 5:02.

If the wait for the 41D is too long, and you are willing to walk a little more than 1/4 of a mile, the 41B runs along West Liberty Ave, which crosses Brookline Blvd, and runs between Brookline and Downtown (Smithfield St) every 60 minutes.

Car Pooling

If you'd like to carpool with other WPLUG members, please ask on the Mailing Lists.

The library system recently underwent an 80 million dollar renovation (Press Release)

Wifi is provided for Allegheny County residents with a valid library card.

Metered parking is plentiful on Brookline Boulevard. Free parking is available on the side streets. There do not appear to be any conveniently-located parking lots.
