The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Western Pennsylvania Linux Users Group was held on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at 7:32 PM, at Smallman Street Deli in Squirrel Hill, the regular presiding officer being in the chair and the Secretary being present. The minutes of the August 25, 2009 meeting were approved as read.
Michael Semcheski moved that Nicholas Schembri be recognized as the WPLUG Member of the Year and that he be awarded a $25 gift card. The motion was adopted.
The Secretary reported that he will be distributing ballots for the upcoming election by this coming Saturday. He reported that WPLUG currently has 25 members.
The Treasurer reported that there is $629.95 in the checking account, $116 cash on hand in the refreshment fund, and $80 in funds to be deposited.
The Program Committee reported that Beth Lynn Eicher will be speaking at the October General User Meeting.
Michael Semcheski moved to discharge the Homewood Lab Committee (appointed at the March 31, 2009 Board meeting). The motion was adopted.
Vance Kochenderfer moved that a "Meet the Candidates" session be held on the WPLUG IRC channel on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 8:00 to 9:00pm to give members a chance to interact with candidates for election. The motion was adopted. Space on the wiki will also be provided for candidates to post a statement.
