I attended the Asterisk Convention this week and saw one of the coolest grassroots open source projects...<br><br>Its a GSM (cell phone network w/ SIM cards) set of software which in conjunction with GNU Radio and Asterisk allows you to build your own GSM cell network.<br>
<br>They did a large field test at the Burning Man festival in Nevada this year..<br>
