I have not built a firewall myself, but could you use a thin client (e.g.,
HP t620 has Gbit ethernet and wifi, and goes for ~$50 or less on ebay) and
a Gbit switch? I see Gbit switches show up on Craigslist around Pittsburgh
all the time for ~$50 or less.
