Stanley Slomberg, a long-time participant in WPLUG events and former board member, passed away last month. Many of you likely remember him from our installfests and other activities, where he always had a twinkle in his eye and loved sharing a cheesy joke. As someone who served on the board with him, I remember his enthusiasm for desktop Linux and his desire to help see it become popular across a broader community. It had been a long time since we last talked, and I'm sad to have missed the opportunity. His obituary is below and can also be found at: https://jewishchronicle.timesofisrael.com/stanley-slomberg-obituary/ SLOMBERG: Slomberg, Stanley C., passed suddenly, at home, on Saturday, April 4, 2020, age 72. Beloved husband of Patricia (Kubish) Slomberg. Son of the late Leah (Raizman) and Carl Slomberg. Brother of Martin (Adrienne), Marilyn (late Bradley) Hersch. Uncle of Jessica Slomberg, Max(Alison) and Steven (Xinlei) Hersch. Stanley worked in the family business, Chartiers Wallpaper Co. in McKees Rocks, PA. Private services and internment were at Ahavath Achim Cemetery in Kennedy Township on Monday, April 6. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 412-621-8282. www.schugar.com Later, Vance Kochenderfer _______________________________________________ wplug-announce mailing list wplug-announce at wplug.org http://www.wplug.org/mailman/listinfo/wplug-announce From gregsimkins at me.com Thu May 7 05:04:23 2020 From: gregsimkins at me.com (greg simkins) Date: Thu, 7 May 2020 05:04:23 -0400 Subject: [wplug] [wplug-announce] In memory - Stanley Slomberg In-Reply-To: <20200507024120.GC22982@nyx.net> References: <20200507024120.GC22982@nyx.net> Message-ID: <2829494E-CC7D-4193-BD31-0FE410A3F44E@me.com> Thanks Vance for sharing this news. I remember Stanley well. He was friendly and outgoing. I haven?t seen him for quite awhile - about as long as WPLUG has been moribund. He used to send me an occasional LinkedIn message.
