I +1 my interest in FreeIPA.

In the past, I have used OpenLDAP and MSAD with Centrify and felt the need
for something better. I also played with sssd and found it immature. My
experiences were a year ago or more so things might have changed.

One of my IT friends sent me a link the other day to a Spiceworks article

article mainly talked about Samba, which can act as an Active Directory

Amusingly enough, the authors completely missed FreeIPA, which is the
closest Linux-centric alternative. It's a Red Hat-sponsored project that
includes the 389 Directory Server, Kerberos, DNS server, and a whole lot
else. You can even define Linux policies for your FreeIPA domain and even
set up a trust relationship with Active Directory.

Where I work - admittedly, a small business - I just set up a trio of
FreeIPA servers that we'll be using in our environment. The documentation
is a bit spotty at times, but it honestly wasn't that hard to set up
FreeIPA. Does anyone else have experience with it? I'm pretty sure Joe said
that he's used it before.
