[wplug] Using Windstream with Linux system

What does their Windows application do? Sometimes ISPs (assuming that
almost all of their customers are on Windows - which is sadly true...)
will provide some canned application that does nothing but set up PPPoE
authentication for you (which Linux has native tools for). Sometimes
also does stupid stuff like redirecting your browser search engine. But
like I said, in general, these apps aren't doing anything out of the
ordinary / non-standard, as far as the network link goes. So as long as
you know what it's doing, you can probably just use your native Linux
tools to do whatever the app does.

They also appear to redirect (by default) browser search engines. I however use seamonkey and linux (gentoo as matter of fact). So I'm a bit confused how I can activate a DSL modem for windstream. I am asking because I might be relocating and my ISP (verizon) will end up being someone else (less service more expensive life happens).

I reserve the right to be wrong and admit I was wrong in front of the entire world. It won't be the first or the last in all likelyness.
