They make Awesome sprinkler controllers too. Check out RaysHobby Opensprinkler (RaspPi, Beagle and Arduino platforms). I've got an Arduino version controlling 5 zones in our back yard and another one going into the "smart garden" we are building. 

Now if I can figure out port-forwarding I can control my irrigation from anywhere. :)
