First of all I am going to fork a conversation about this on the WPLUG
mailing list because I am sure help from them will be needed to win.
Second of all, I am not willing to invest my time to develop any
proprietary software, or on a Tivoized platform like a Game console.
Third of all, I am a proud member of the PC Master Race. With how this
gaming generation is going, If it doesn't run on a PC, I literally don't
care.

Now for my idea proposals.
Card Battle Game: Computer Based Trading Card Game
To implement it, it would mostly be a Database Engine (likely SQLite3)
with some business rules programmed in via the implementation language.
Extraneous benefits - I will get content faster for the Database Talk I
proposed to do for the next WPLUG meeting. It will fill a Genre hole on
the PC platform
Multi User Dungeon: Text Based MMORPG
To implement it, there are already existing mature libraries to leverage.
Extraneous benefits - I already have hosting for it, on my VPS. Lots of
libraries to choose from.
SuperTux mod that has actual bosses in it: Already existing performer
similar to Super Mario, but doesn't have bosses in it.
Game already done, just need to mod it.
Extraneous benefits - It would make an already existing game better.
Starting with something that already works.

I read the Wikipedia page a bit more, and I don't have to care what any
of you guys think because it is a one on one competition. What I really
need to know is what "All game code and content must be created during
the competition and by a single person, and source code
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_code> is encouraged to be
included." means and when the competition is so it doesn't conflict with
a weekend where I have to to something else instead.
I went and look at the actual site http://ludumdare.com/compo/rules/,
and it is happening this weekend. We can use any tools libraries or base
code we have so I can torture a database engine until it acts like a
game all I want.
Teams can participate in the Jam, but not in the Compo. I don't know if
I have the energy to develop a game in 48 hours this weekend. I will
know by Thursday.
