Correct.  It's great news for Mac users that this update is available at 
no (direct) cost.  But it is not free software in the "free as in 
freedom" sense, and never will be unless they release the source code 
too, and put it under an appropriate license that does not restrict 
anyone from modifying and/or sharing it.
