The folks at Google have asked us to pass on some info about an event
they're holding later this month, on June 27th. It's not exactly Linux
related, but it does involve Raspberry Pi's. ;-)
The event information / registration site is:
http://redplanetpit.eventbrite.com <http://redplanetpit.eventbrite.com/>
From the site, here's their published abstract of the event:
"...Its the year 20XX. Humans have colonized Mars, but power is scarce,
fuel and oxygen are critical, and keeping track of the locations of both
is proving challenging. Google Space Site Reliability Engineers (Space
SRE) are designing and building low-power lightweight infrastructure
suitable for deployment to Mars. Help save our species on the red
planet, and write the waypoint selection backend code on a Raspberry Pi
machine, to find the power and fuel!"
It's free to participate, but you do need to register in advance. And,
it does sound like fun. And there will be snacks. ;-)
If you have any questions about the event, please contact the Google
event organizer on the Eventbrite page - this is all the information
WPLUG has about the event right now....
