[wplug] The chromification of Firefox

Have any of you heard about Firefox’s new UI redesign, Australis?

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=860814#c3

TL;DR version: they’re going to butcher Firefox a la GNOME.

GNOME 3.0 and Unity forced me to switch to KDE once GNOME 2.x was retired. Linux, for
me, is about power and control; I like being able to do what I want without being
encumbered by artificial limitations set in place by companies that worry about whether
advanced functionality would confuse people, affect their brand, or whatever.

I've been defending Firefox for years because I believe that non-profit groups like the
Mozilla Foundation play an important role in defending users' rights, but it's time to
separate the good from the bad. Firefox is going downhill, and I need to plan ahead.

Can any of you recommend an open source browser that’s designed for intelligent users?
A few people on my favorite hardware enthusiast site recommended Seamonkey. I’m
reluctant to use Chromium because Google’s record on privacy is spotty. I wouldn’t trust
them with my sync data.

If I could find a browser that supports plug-ins and has some sort of sync feature, that’d be
great.
