James,

You should be able to install using the amd64 port.  From my 
understanding AMD first came out with the spec for the 64 bit processor 
ahead of Intel's emt64.  So AMD64 sort of became a defacto standard name 
for the 64bit port that will install on either architecture.  If still 
not sure, just try out a live image of the AMD64.  Download and toast to 
dvd, boot and report back.
