Thanks, guys. I'll need to brush up on my troubleshooting between now
and then, but this will give me a good start.

The rifle is a new Ruger 10/22 that I'm making into a Liberty Training
Rifle <http://libertytrainingrifle.tumblr.com/> for use at a Project
Appleseed <http://www.appleseedinfo.org/> boot camp. The factory front
sight and bolt stop pin are stuck as tight as I've ever seen, and I
don't trust my shaky hands to install countersunk sling studs on my own.

Chuck - that's his name - invited me to bring friends to Appleseed. If
you've got a rifle that can be accurately shot from the shoulder and
want to learn traditional rifle marksmanship skills, you're welcome to
come. I certainly intend to invite Chuck and any other Linux enthusiasts
he knows to join WPLUG!

Then hit F6 to get the kernel rags and select nomodeset. That should get you through the graphical install and then you will have to add the same argument at boot until you get the driver sorted out.
