I just bought the $9.99 competitive upgrade for VMWare Fusion for my MacBook.  I had put off upgrading Parallels for the $49 "special" price.  It seems that they upgrade every year and want another $50 or so.  So far, I really like VMWare Fusion.  

2 cents worth.
