I've had trouble converting Windows XP VMs between VMM formats. The
problem always ultimately lies with Windows product activation issues.
The installed OS detects major hardware changes (in this case
harddrive and CPU at least) and triggers product activation, locking
the OS.

You can try talking to Microsoft support to convince them that you
have a legal copy and have migrated it to a new machine. If you
convice them, they will give you a new activation code. They have a
limit on the number of times you can do this on one license (3 I
believe).

Sorry you have to run Windows for your hardware.
