[wplug] Copying Symbolic Links

I am trying to copy files from my PC to a USB Thumb Drive (Sandisk).  I
get error messages telling me that it cannot copy symbolic link "files".
I get the same errors when copying Linux directories to a Windows
Network Drive.
 
Is there any way to back up directories with links?
