[wplug] setting up firefox to use usbdisk java?

Can't you just use the RealVNC client?  It should have a smaller 
footprint, and doesn't require Java.

I'd recommend TightVNC, but for the current version there is only a 
source archive on Sourceforge, that will only work for you if your Live 
CD has a development environment.  (There are pre-packaged RPM's for 
prior versions)
