I've used Gentoo and Ubuntu at Pitt with no issues at all.  I can
connect to Pitt's wireless network with Network-Manager and Evolution
works fine with Pitt's IMAP email service.  Webmail is also available
at the my.pitt.edu portal.  I've managed to get through a CoE
undergraduate degree and part of a EE masters degree almost entirely
using Linux and with very little fuss.
